By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor
Brookfield Patch recently published an article pertaining to the Connecticut U.S. Attorney’s Office spending of $20 million and collecting $60 million. Rapid Recovery Solution, a collection agency, expressed its views on this article on December 19, 2012.
As per the Brookfield Patch story, nearly $60 million were collected by the U.S. Attorney’s Office during the financial year of 2012 by carrying out criminal trials, civil proceedings and asset forfeit measures. A statement in this regard was issued by David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
According to the article, while $9.5 million was accounted for criminal action, $42.2 million and $8.25 million accounted for civil action, and civil and criminal resources, respectively. The total amount collected is nearly three times the total amount spent by the office during 2012.
In a statement, Attorney Fein said, "I appreciate the dedication of the people in this office and, notably, the work of our Civil Division and Financial Litigation Unit, in protecting the public and recovering this substantial amount of money."
According to the article, the money collected will now be used to ensure that the federal, state and local laws are executed correctly for the continuous collection of debts.
John Monderine, CEO at Rapid Recovery Solution said, "I am glad to see states being aggressive with their debt collection and seeing results. Tripling your budget amount with collected debt is amazing, and it shows how beneficial collecting on debt can be."
