Mar 14, 2013 (AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION via COMTEX) --
US airframer Boeing's Boeing Commercial Aviation Services Jeppesen unit said it has signed a contract to provide UK-based carrier British Airways with the Jeppesen Manpower Planning solution to increase pilot management efficiency for the international carrier.
Jeppesen Manpower Planning will allow British Airways to produce cost-efficient resource plans to accurately forecast and analyze pilot supply and demand, the firm said.
A component of the Jeppesen crew management system at British Airways, Jeppesen Manpower Planning provides the airline with full control over the pilot manpower planning process.
The solution reduces overall crew and training costs through optimization capabilities, producing multiple feasible and legal scenarios that can be implemented by the airline.
Jeppesen Manpower Planning estimates crew supply and demand, presented graphically with surplus and deficit visualized.
Vacation time, standbys and projected training information are among the variables included in the solution to calculate optimized manpower planning data for efficient resource planning.
