BRIEF: El Paso remodeler sentenced to 1 1/2 years in jail for deceptive business practices

A remodeler who failed to complete work was sentenced to 1ayears in jail and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine Wednesday in County Court-at-Law No. 4, the El Paso County Attorney's Office said.
Prosecutors said Adrian Zamarripa, 48, owner of A to Z Remodeling, pleaded guilty to three counts of deceptive business practices.
Judge Alex Gonzalez sentenced Zamarripa to one year and imposed a $4,000 fine on each of two counts and six months in jail and a $2,000 fine on the third count.
In the first case, prosecutors said a homeowner paid Zamarripa more than $100,000 in advance but the job was not finished. Some work was done, and the amount of restitution was $75,000. Zamarripa had repaid only $20,500.
In the second and
third cases, two homeowners paid Zamarripa $18,000 and $5,000 each to remodel separate homes, but the jobs were not completed.
